King Kong Heliconia
de l’espèce
A tropical forest giant
The Heliconia King Kong develops immense green leaves that can measure several meters in length. Their shape resembles that of banana trees and helps create a spectacular tropical setting. Thanks to its vigorous growth, this species quickly forms large clumps that often dominate the surrounding vegetation.
Its flowering is just as remarkable. Long, drooping inflorescences emerge at the end of the stems and bear a succession of large red bracts, sometimes tinged with yellow or green depending on their stage of development. These colorful structures protect the true, more discreet flowers that attract pollinators.
In its natural habitat, the Heliconia King Kong grows in warm, humid environments where it benefits from rich soil and abundant rainfall. Its exceptional size and spectacular inflorescences make it one of the most impressive heliconias cultivated in tropical botanical gardens.
Like the Torch ginger, the alpinias or the pink banana, the Heliconia King Kong contributes to the richness and plant diversity that make large tropical gardens renowned.
