At the heart of the Balata Garden's creation was Jean-Philippe Thoze's passion for tropical plants. Over the years, he amassed an impressive botanical collection and shaped a harmonious landscape where colors, shapes, and perspectives naturally complement each other.

Designed as an invitation to explore, the garden reveals a succession of unique atmospheres and plant scenes. Today, it is among the most iconic botanical gardens in the Caribbean and attracts visitors from all over the world.

Inauguration of theCanopy
In 2010, the Balata Garden enhanced its visitor experience with the opening of the canopy walk. Comprising suspended bridges above the vegetation, this new attraction offers a unique experience and allows visitors to observe the garden from a completely different perspective.

From the walkways, visitors enjoy exceptional panoramic views of the tropical plant beds, palm trees, and surrounding landscapes. This creation quickly became one of the garden's symbols.

The Balata Garden enhances its visitor experience with the opening of La Luciole, its panoramic restaurant. Nestled in the heart of tropical vegetation, this space allows visitors to extend their garden exploration with a gourmet break.

With its privileged view of the surrounding landscapes and its peaceful setting, La Luciole quickly became a popular spot for both visitors and residents of Martinique.
