A spectacular bromeliad with striped foliage

Flaming Sword It forms a rosette of long, flexible, dark green leaves adorned with horizontal purplish-brown stripes. This distinctive pattern sometimes makes it noticeable even when it's not in bloom.

At the center of the rosette, a flattened, brightly colored inflorescence appears. The red to orange-red bracts, sometimes edged with yellow, remain decorative for several weeks, or even several months. The actual flowers, which are more discreet, emerge successively between the bracts.

Like many bromeliads, the Flaming Sword retains rainwater in the heart of its rosette. This natural reservoir provides a refuge for small organisms and contributes to the biodiversity of tropical forests. At the Jardin de Balata, it exemplifies the exceptional diversity of bromeliads, alongside species such as other epiphytic plants adapted to life in humid tropical environments.
