Peace Lily

de l’espèce

A cousin of the anthurium often confused with it
The peace lily belongs to the Araceae family, just like anthuriums (Anthurium spp.). Both plants have a similar floral structure composed of a spadix surrounded by a spathe. However, they are indeed two distinct genera.
For the peace lily, the spathe is generally white then gradually turns greenish as it ages. Its habit is also more flexible and natural than that of many horticultural anthuriums. This difference gives it a discreet elegance particularly appreciated in shaded areas.
Its dense, glossy foliage remains decorative throughout the year. Inflorescences regularly renew themselves in tropical climates and contrast beautifully with the deep green of the leaves.
In its natural habitat, Spathiphyllum grows in the shade of large trees where it benefits from high atmospheric humidity. Like anthuriums, medinillas or certain bromeliads, it is one of the emblematic plants of humid tropical undergrowth.
